Executive MBAs receive one-on-one career coaching
Queen's and Knightsbridge partner to offer cross-Canada career management services
May 13, 2004
Queen’s School of Business has signed a five-year agreement with Knightsbridge Human Capital Management that will provide students enrolled in Queen’s Executive MBA and Accelerated MBA for Business Graduates programs one-on-one career coaching from Knightsbridge consultants. Queen's delivers each program to teams of students via live, interactive videoconference in major cities across Canada, most of which are also home to a Knightsbridge office.
“At Queen’s, we’re serious about ensuring that our Executive MBA and Accelerated MBA students get maximum return on their educational investment, in and out of the classroom, coast-to-coast,” says David Edwards, Director of Business Career Services at Queen’s School of Business. “By partnering with Knightsbridge, our students have some of Canada’s best career coaches in their corner.”
Career-Step™ : Queen’s New Approach to Career Management
The Queen’s deal with Knightsbridge is just one component of a new approach to career management that Queen's School of Business has developed specifically for its Executive MBA and Accelerated MBA students. The new approach, called “Career-Step™”, provides a suite of career management services that students complete sequentially at their own pace, according to their own goals. The key components of the Career-Step program are:
Self-study: Custom online resources and individual exercises designed by Knightsbridge and Queen’s to help students formulate their personal career goals. Students can access their personal career management file on line 24/7.
Group training: Classroom seminars in creating and implementing career strategies.
One-on-one support: Individual, one-on-one career coaching from Knightsbridge consultants across Canada, and résumé reviews with on-campus MBA Career Managers.
“Queen’s Career-Step is all about managing a career. We’ve combined the best career management practices offered by top business schools and executive search firms into one complete package,” says Edwards. “In today’s hypercompetitive market, in addition to having the right skills and experience, a key ingredient in the recipe for career success is focused, strategic career management. A blend of self-study, group work and one-on-one coaching is what Queen’s Executive MBA and Accelerated MBA students can count on to help develop and execute a plan that’s right for them.”
The sequential nature of Queen’s Career-Step program means that by the time students engage in one-on-one coaching with the experts at Knightsbridge, they have already formulated their career goals and strategies through self-study and group training. The result is more time for efficient, customized career coaching and actual implementation of the student’s career plan.
“We applaud the progressive, customer service-focused approach Queen’s is taking to student career management, and we’re delighted to play a major role in delivering this new program,” said David Shaw, CEO of Knightsbridge. “Whether an individual is seeking a career shift, or some form of advancement in their current organization, competition is fierce and strategic career planning is essential. We look forward to helping Queen’s Executive MBA and Accelerated MBA students and graduates shine around the world.”
