- February 10, 2003 – For the second year in a row, the team from Queen's Commerce took first place in the Undergraduate National Case Competition held this past weekend at the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University.

Fourth-year students Lesley Tod of Toronto, Tamara Minnema of Appin, Ontario, Logan Chambers of Oakville, and Andrew Dennison of San Jose, California prepared and delivered top quality presentations. They were declared the winners following an intense round robin-type format that saw each team present two different cases to a panel of corporate executives and business professors. Ten teams competed at Concordia, representing universities from across Canada.

Special thanks to team advisor Eric LeBlanc, who coached the team from advance preparation at Queen's through to the final round at Concordia. Thanks as well to Doug Reid, John Phelan and Marilyn Shurtleff, who along with Eric had sessions with the team. Also, thanks to Ajay Agrawal and John Pliniussen who assisted in the planning of the “prep sessions”.

The team was presented with a first place trophy, as well as a cheque for $2,500 from one of the major sponsors of the competition, Export Development Canada.

This latest win at Concordia follows a strong tradition of success by Queen's Commerce students in national and international case competitions, demonstrating the high calibre of students attracted to the program, and the superb education they receive while at Queen's.
