Profs. Merv Daub and Hamish Taylor Retire
December 05, 2002
2002-12-05 - A large and friendly crowd gathered at the University Club to recount the professional careers – and fire a few affable barbs – at retiring Queen's School of Business professors Merv Daub and Hamish Taylor.
Professors Bill Cooper and Jeff McGill began with roasts and toasts to Taylor, a 25-year veteran of the School, highlighting his recognized excellence in the application of statistics and decision analysis to industry, especially in the complex transportation sector. A PhD graduate from Stanford University, Taylor is a respected and versatile teacher who has taught in every degree program in the School.
Merv Daub’s 31-year career as a Queen's School of Business economics professor was reviewed by Professors Lew Johnson and Bo Pazderka. Daub has been at Queen's throughout his academic career, with the exception of five years at the University of Chicago earning his MBA and PhD. Daub is a well-known Canadian authority on the accuracy of economic forecasts, whose most recent challenge has been chairing the School’s Building Committee, which planned and supervised the building of Goodes Hall.
