New Faculty Join The School

2002-07-30 - Jen Baggs joins the School from the University of British Columbia, where she has just completed the requirements for her PhD in International Business. She has a BA in economics from the University of Alberta, and an MA in Economics from UBC. Jen’s current research interests include international trade agreements, the determinants of firm financial structure, and international trade in hazardous waste. She was recently selected one of the nine recipients of this year’s “Young Economist Essay Award” from EARIE – the European Association for Research on Industrial Economics.
William (Bill) Blake hails from Newfoundland’s Memorial University where he has held the position of Dean in the Faculty of Business Administration since 1993. He holds a PhD in Organizational Behavior and an MBA from The University of Western Ontario, and a BA in Commerce from Royal Military College in Kingston. Bill, who set up Memorial’s executive development program, will be teaching in the OB area and assisting with Queen's Executive Development Centre. His academic interests have focused on the relationship between cultural adaptability and international effectiveness.
Yuri Levin joins Queen’s from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, where he completed his PhD in Operations Research in 2001, and was most recently an Assistant Professor there. Yuri earned undergraduate and masters degrees in economics and applied mathematics, respectively, from Belarus State University. His research interests include supply chain management, mathematical programming, business statistics and database systems.
Jinhan Pae was an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University in Columbus before coming to Queen’s. He completed his PhD at the University of British Columbia in 1999. Jinhan holds a masters degree from the University of Wisconsin, and an MBA and BA from Seoul National University in Korea. His research interests include accounting valuation models, earnings management and analysts’ forecasts.
Lynnette Purda is currently completing her PhD in Finance at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and holds a Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba. Lynnette’s research interests combine investments and international finance, with empirical methodologies forming the primary research tool.
