Poll says Queen's Executive MBA #1

Survey reveals executive education priorities of corporate Canada

- KINGSTON, ON - March 26, 2002 - Queen's School of Business today welcomed the news that a survey conducted by one of Canada's most respected market research firms ranks the Queen's Executive MBA as the #1 choice of Canadian executives.

In a new Environics poll of senior business leaders from coast to coast, Queen's emerged as the most highly regarded executive MBA in Canada. 30% identified Queen's as the best program, compared with 19% for the University of Western Ontario and 6% for the University of Toronto.

"For some time, we've known that Queen's Executive MBA is the most popular choice for experienced managers in Canada," said Dr. Danny Szpiro, Director of the Queen's Executive MBA national program. Queen's national program is delivered to students in major cities across Canada via real-time, interactive videoconference.

The Environics Executive Education Survey involved interviews with 405 Canadian executives at companies with 200 or more employees. Respondents' job titles included president, CEO, general manager, COO, vice president and plant manager. Here are other key findings of the survey:

- Queen's School of Business also gets the nod for the best non-degree executive education programs. 21% of executives favoured Queen's. Once again, Western was the runner-up choice with 13%, with the Schulich School at York University third at 8%.
- 69% of senior executives believe Canadian business schools are "just as good" as their US competitors. 18% believe US schools are better, and 8% believe Canadian schools are superior.
- 63% of respondents say their firms have sent senior managers to executive education programs, with Queen's (16%) and Western (10%) identified as the most popular places to go.>br /> - In recommending an executive education program to a manager, the most important factors include program content (28%), quality of instruction and faculty (19%), the school's reputation (17%), and practical, innovative and challenging applications (10%).
