Canada’s most sought-after Executive MBA program earns international acclaim once again
KINGSTON, ON, October 21, 2001 – Queen’s School of Business, home of Canada’s largest and most sought-after executive MBA program, has earned international acclaim once again. In its October 21st issue, the Financial Times of London (UK) ranks the Queen’s Executive MBA among the top 50 executive MBA programs in the world. In addition, Queen’s ranked #2 in the world – with 98 out of a possible 100 – on the “Aims Achieved Index”, the only measurement of alumni satisfaction included in the survey.
“Speaking for all the staff and faculty at Queen’s School of Business, it’s deeply gratifying that our grads are so satisfied after they’ve completed their Executive MBA,” said Dr. Margot Northey, Dean of Queen’s School of Business. “Queen’s students are very focused on the future value of their degrees, and that’s why we’re so excited to be ranked among the best in the world.”
This is the second honour received by Queen’s School of Business this month. In its October 15th issue, Business Week magazine ranked the Queen’s Executive MBA among the top 25 executive MBA programs in the world. Business Week placed Queen’s among the “Best of the Bunch” in two key top-10 categories: “entrepreneurship” and “teaching leadership”. In addition, Queen's full-time MBA program has been ranked #1 in Canada by Canadian Business for four years in a row. Queen's non-degree executive education programs have ranked in the Financial Times’ list of the world’s top 30 schools for three consecutive years.
To generate its rankings, the Financial Times invited 72 top schools to participate from the hundreds offering executive MBA programs. The magazine selected the top 50 schools based on the responses to two questionnaires – an extensive survey of executive MBA alumni from the class of 1998 and a survey completed by each school invited to be in the ranking. To be included, each executive MBA program had to be running for at least five years and students had to start and finish as a single cohort.
Queen’s was the first Canadian university to grant business degrees, and the School is widely known for its expertise in executive education. In fact, more senior executives in Canada choose Queen’s than all other Canadian universities combined. In addition to the executive MBA degree program, Queen’s offers a wide portfolio of non-degree programs — from traditional disciplines such as finance, human resources and marketing to newer fields such as strategic leadership. Building on its experience in executive education, Queen’s developed the world’s first Executive MBA program delivered through interactive, real-time videoconferencing to cities across the nation.
The Financial Times’ ranking and other measures reflect the growing international recognition that Queen's School of Business (www.business.queensu.ca) is one of the world’s best business schools. The school’s programs include the undergraduate Bachelor of Commerce, with the highest entrance standards in Canada and a 100% success rate in placing students in career-quality jobs; Queen's MBA for Science & Technology, ranked #1 for four consecutive years by Canadian Business magazine; the market-leading Executive MBA program, Canada's only MBA program delivered by videoconference to sites from coast to coast as well as an Ottawa-based classroom; Queen's Executive Development Centre, Canada’s largest provider of executive education programs; and MSc and PhD programs that produce leading researchers for industry and academia.
