Dr.  Sanjeev Bhojraj – Accounting,
Cornell University

Sanjeev Bhojraj's research interests are in the areas of discretionary disclosure of information by firms, corporate governance mechanisms, stock valuation and international accounting and analysis. His teaching interests encompass financial accounting and financial statement analysis. He received the Apple Award for Teaching Excellence and the Clifford H. Whitcomb Faculty Fellowship, both in 2001, and the Executive MBA Globe Award for Teaching Excellence in 2003. In addition, he received outstanding faculty recognition in the 2003 edition of BusinessWeek's Guide to The Best Business Schools. He is certified as a Chartered Accountant and a Cost Accountant.

Dr.  Tina Dacin – Strategy and Organizational Behaviour, Queen's School of Business

Tina Dacin is Director of the Centre for Responsible Leadership and a Distinguished Faculty Fellow at Queen’s School of Business. She specializes in the areas of business ethics, social innovation, strategic alliances and business networks, specifically focusing of the topics of partner selection and collaboration. Prior to joining Queen’s, she spent nine years at Texas A&M University, where she was recognized for both research and teaching excellence. She has consulted with companies in many industries and has served on the editorial boards of several leading academic journals.

Dr.  Jim Detert – Management & Organizations,
Cornell University

James Detert received his MA in Sociology and PhD in Organizational Behaviour from Harvard University. He also holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota and a BBA from the University of Wisconsin. He is an authority in organizational behaviour with a special interest in the areas of leadership and ethical decision making. His research has been published in a number of prestigious academic journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Operations Management, and Harvard Business Review. He has also consulted extensively across a variety of high-technology and service-oriented industries, as well as public sector institutions.

Mr.ShaiDubey

Mr.  Shai Dubey – Business Law, Negotiations & New Ventures, Queen's School of Business

Shai Dubey is Director of the Queen’s full-time MBA and Master of International Business programs. As a member of the Queen’s School of Business faculty, he teaches Business Law in several of the School’s programs. He is also a corporate commercial lawyer and has practiced law at several major law firms in Toronto. He has been retained by many organizations to provide advice on corporate governance issues, and has extensive experience in negotiating major business transactions.

Dr.YanivGrinstein

Dr.  Yaniv Grinstein – Corporate Finance and Governance, Cornell University

Yaniv Grinstein's research and teaching interests are in corporate finance and corporate governance. He was recently working at the Securities and Exchange Commission as a Visiting Academic Scholar, continuing his research efforts in these areas. His current projects involve an analysis of the effect of the new governance rules in the U.S. on corporate value, an examination of executive compensation in U.S. corporations, and a look at the role of corporate boards in monitoring firms. He has been published in several journals, including the Journal of Finance and the Journal of Financial Economics. His research has been widely cited in major publications such as The Economist, Financial Times, Newsweek, New York Times, LA Times, and Forbes magazine.

Dr.JayHandelman

Dr.  Jay Handelman – Marketing,
Queen's School of Business

Jay Handelman is Associate Dean of Research, Director of the MSc and PhD programs, and Associate Professor of Marketing at Queen’s School of Business. He has also served as Director of the Centre for Responsible Leadership. He has conducted extensive research into the ways in which marketers integrate emotional, cultural and social responsibility dimensions into their traditional marketing strategies, and the ways in which these strategies benefit the organization. He is also an expert on consumer activism and boycotts. His research has been published in several academic journals, including the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Retailing and the Journal of Business Research.

Dr.OriHeffetz

Dr.  Ori Heffetz – Economics, Cornell University

Ori Heffetz's interests lie in the social and cultural aspects of economic behaviour. He has explored phenomena such as conspicuous consumption, where consumers purchase visible goods in their attempts to advertise their wealth and gain social status. He is similarly interested in the use of consumption as a language to convey meaning and in its relationship to fashion and advertisements. He has worked with participants in both Executive and full-time MBA programs at Cornell. His dissertation was featured in the New York Times and in the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz. He has traveled extensively in developing countries, studying problems that lie at the crossroads of economics, society, and culture.

Dr.  Justin Johnson – Economics,
Cornell University

Justin Johnson received his PhD in Economics at MIT and his BA in Mathematics from the University of Florida. He is an award-winning teacher and researcher. His research focuses primarily on applied theoretical microeconomic issues related to strategy and industrial organization. He has served as a reviewer for numerous academic journals and has made presentations at universities and business schools across the United States.

Dr.ElizabethMannix

Dr.  Elizabeth Mannix – Organizational Behaviour, Cornell University

Elizabeth Mannix's research and teaching interests include: effective performance in managerial teams, diversity in organizations and teams, power and alliances, negotiation and conflict, and organizational change and renewal. Her work has been widely published in a variety of journals and she is the co-editor of the book series Research on Managing Groups and Teams, now in its 10th volume. Professor Mannix is also the Director of the Institute for the Social Sciences, established in 2004 at Cornell. She is the winner of the inaugural EMBA Globe Award for Excellence in teaching.

Dr.  Jim McKeen – IT Strategy, Queen's School of Business

Jim McKeen is a recognized authority on Management Information Systems and IT Strategy. Jim was named IT Educator of the Year by ComputerWorld Canada in 2011. He is among the premier researchers and educators in the field and co-facilitates the networking of senior IT executives through two well-known industry forums – the IT Management Forum and the CIO Brief. His book, IT Strategy: Issues and Practices (2nd Edition, Pearson Prentice Hall, 2012), is a must-read for senior IT executives. He has consulted with numerous organizations, including Sears, Equifax Inc., TD Canada Trust, and IBM.

Dr.  Roni Michaely – Finance, Cornell University

Roni Michaely is an expert in the area of corporate finance, capital markets and valuation. His current research focuses on conflict of interest in the capital markets, corporate payout policy, and the pricing and optimal trading mechanisms of IPOs. He is widely published in the leading journals and currently serves as an associate editor for the Review of Financial Studies. He has received several research awards and honours, and his research has also been frequently featured in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Economist, BusinessWeek, and Forbes.

Mr.JohnMoore

Mr.  John Moore – Financial Accounting,
Queen's School of Business

John Moore is an experienced and award-winning executive educator who is highly regarded in the accounting profession. He has conducted executive development seminars on financial tools for senior managers at Alcan, BMW, DuPont, Canon, Mitel, Shoppers Drug Mart, New Brunswick Power Corporation, Mountain Equipment Co-op, and Canada Post. He also works with members of senior management teams to integrate financial accounting concepts into strategic planning. He is a six-time winner of the MBA Teaching Excellence Award from Queen’s School of Business; a recipient of the Silver Medal from CMA Canada; Fellow of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada; and the author of five accounting textbooks, including a study guide for students preparing for the CA designation.

Dr.  Salman Mufti – Management Information Systems, Queen's School of Business

Salman Mufti is an Associate Professor of Management Information Systems at Queen’s School of Business. He is an award-winning teacher and has extensive domestic and international teaching experience in both degree and non-degree executive education. He is a former Director of Queen's Executive MBA and of Queen's Full-time MBA. He regularly advises senior managers in corporations and the public sector, and is frequently featured in the press on matters relating to information technology strategy and management. He has consulted with numerous organizations including Bell Canada, Sunlife Insurance, Canadian National Railway, Accenture, and Business Development Bank of Canada.

Dr.  Elspeth Murray – Strategy, New Ventures and MIS, Queen's School of Business

Elspeth Murray is the Associate Dean of MBA Programs at Queen’s School of Business and CIBC Faculty Fellow in Entrepreneurship. As well, she leads the School’s Centre for Business Venturing. In this role she has spearheaded the development of the Dare to Dream Internship Program, designed to kick-start graduates’ entrepreneurial ventures, and the Tri-Colour Fund, a student-led early stage investment fund. The New Venture Management course that she developed has been recognized by BusinessWeek as one of the world’s top 10 Executive MBA courses. Additionally, she serves as a Director of Parteq, the commercialization organization for Queen’s University. She is also the co-author of “Fast Forward – Organizational Change in 100 Days” with Peter Richardson.

Dr.  Shawna O'Grady – Human Resources and Team-Building, Queen's School of Business

Shawna O'Grady is an authority on strategic human resources management, team-building, and the cross-cultural aspects of international business. She is an experienced team facilitator who is in high demand for her original approach to team-building. She is also the author of Border Crossings – Doing Business in the U.S., an award-winning book on international business. She has consulted with many organizations including Microsoft, MDS, Mattel, Shoppers Drug Mart, Enbridge Consumers Gas, Industry Canada, BMW, Novo Nordisk, Oracle, Xerox, Bell Canada, GlaxoSmithKline, Ministry of Finance, Canada Post Corporation, and TD Canada Trust.

Dr.  Bo Pazderka – Business Economics,
Queen's School of Business

Bo Bo Pazderka is an authority in the economics of research and development, the multinational pharmaceutical industry, health economics, and the transition of the former centrally planned economies of Central and Eastern Europe to free-market systems. He has worked at universities around the world, including France, Australia, the U.K., and Slovakia. He served on the Board of Directors of Hôtel Dieu Hospital in Kingston, and was for many years a member of its Ethics Committee. He is co-author of several books, including: It’s No Gamble - The Economic and Social Benefits of Stock Markets; Approaches to an International Comparison of R&D Expenditures; and Microeconomics: The Canadian Context.

Dr.DouglasReid

Dr.  Douglas Reid – Strategic Management,
Queen's School of Business

Douglas Reid is an authority on corporate strategy, and has been widely quoted in the media. As a researcher, he specializes in inter-company alliance dynamics and large alliance evolution. Prior to joining Queen's School of Business, he was vice president at Burson-Marsteller, an international consulting firm. He recently concluded six years of service as a director of Candela Energy, and is an active advisor to several companies including Bell Canada, Ontario Securities Commission, Canada Post, Shoppers Drug Mart and Royal and Sun Alliance.

Dr.  Peter Richardson – Strategic Management,
Queen's School of Business

Peter Richardson is a leading expert in corporate turnarounds and an authority on strategic management and the management of innovation. His strategic approach to cost management and margin improvement has been widely adopted by industry. During his years at Queen’s, Peter has authored over 75 papers and case studies on strategic management. With Elspeth Murray, he co-authored Fast Forward: Organizational Change in 100 Days. A previous book, Cost Containment: The Ultimate Strategic Advantage, remains one of the few books to be written on cost improvement. He consults widely for many organizations including BHP Billiton, Alcoa, CIBC Mellon, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Auditor General of Canada, and Natural Resources Canada, working closely with senior executives on strategy development and deployment.

Dr.LawrenceRobinson

Dr.  Lawrence Robinson – Operations Management,
Cornell University

Lawrence Robinson's research focuses on problems of operating in an uncertain environment; in particular, on developing practical heuristic policies that perform well and can be easily calculated. His research interests range from inventory management to booking limits for discount fare airline passengers, to scheduling doctor's appointments. He actively consults with companies in many industries and he has published in a variety of journals, including Operations Research, Management Science, IIE Transactions, and the European Journal of Operational Research. He has been a Mobil Scholar, and has been recognized by BusinessWeek as one of the top teachers in The Johnson School.

Dr.SandraSpataro

Dr.  Sandra Spataro – Management & Organizations, Cornell University

Sandra Spataro has worked with organizations to examine how the formation of informal status hierarchies in organizations and status differences among coworkers are associated with demographic diversity. She has worked with participants in both Executive and full-time MBA programs at Cornell. Her research examines the influences of the market environment, the demographic composition of the organization, and an organization's formal and informal social structures on individuals' work experiences. Her publications have appeared in Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Behavioral Sciences and the Law, and Research in Managing Groups and Teams.

Dr.DouglasStayman

Dr.  Douglas Stayman – Marketing,
Cornell University

Douglas Stayman's teaching and research interests are in the areas of advertising and consumer decision-making. He came to The Johnson School from the University of Texas at Austin. His research has focused on the study of emotional responses to advertising and the role of affect in decision-making. His work has involved methodological and measurement issues in studying emotions. He is also interested in theoretical accounts of the effects of emotions on people's preferences. His research has been supported by grants from the Ogilvy Center for Research and Development, the Marketing Science Institute, and the American Academy of Advertising.

Dr.RobertSwieringa

Dr.  Robert Swieringa – Corporate Governance,
Cornell University

Robert Swieringa is the former Dean of the Johnson School at Cornell. His primary areas of expertise are corporate financial reporting, corporate governance, and behavioral accounting. He has been a member of the Accounting faculty at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Yale School of Management, and was a visiting scholar at Harvard Business School. He has also served as a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) from 1986 to 1996, and is a member of the Board of Directors of General Electric. An outstanding teacher and lecturer, Professor Swieringa won the Justice Foundation Award for Outstanding Teaching at Cornell and has received numerous awards and honors in recognition of his scholarly and professional work.

Dr.DanielSzpiro

Dr.  Daniel Szpiro – Managerial Accounting & Control, Cornell University

Danny Szpiro is an award-winning teacher and expert on financial management, including capital budgeting, post-investment review, and the Balanced Scorecard. He has taught in many graduate and executive degree programs and, prior to teaching, he spent nine years in sales, logistics, financial management, and other international activities in the consumer electronics industry. He has published on the topic of integrating capital budgeting and corporate strategy, and his guides on the use of the case method have been adopted by universities around the world. His numerous credits include CMA Teacher of the Year at Concordia University and contributing author to the Society of Management Accountants CMA Entrance Study Guide.

Dr.L. JosephThomas

Dr.  L. Joseph Thomas – Manufacturing,
Cornell University

Joseph Thomas is Dean of the Johnson School at Cornell University. He specializes in operations management. His teaching interests are supply-chain integration, manufacturing strategy, production and quantitative analysis. His publications have dealt with manufacturing management, forecasting, work-sharing systems, and the effect of marketing decisions on production planning. He has consulted for and been involved in management-education programs for several companies. His current research interests involve models for managing complex production- distribution systems and the ways in which these can be implemented effectively, considering the way people respond to different forms of work organization. He is a two-time winner of the Russell Distinguished Teaching Award, for 1995 and 2000.

Mr.  Ken Wong – Marketing, Sales and Business Strategy, Queen's School of Business

Ken Wong is one of Canada’s most respected marketing professors. He has worked with the Strategic Planning Institute at Harvard University and the Conference Board of Canada, writes a regular column for Canadian Grocer and Meetings & Incentive Travel magazines and contributes to Marketing magazine, Strategy and numerous trade publications. He is a 2006 inductee into the Canadian Marketing Hall of Legends and past winner of the National Post’s Leader’s In Management Education award. He regularly judges the “Canada’s Best Managed Companies” and other competitions, addresses corporations and conventions around the world, and sits on a number of other advisory/directorship boards. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Marketing Association, and is Vice President, Knowledge Development, with Level 5 Brand Consulting Inc.

Dr.RogerWright

Dr.  Roger Wright – Operations and Decision Models, Queen's School of Business

Roger Wright is a former Director of Queen's National Executive MBA. He has lectured internationally on production and operations management, has been responsible for the design, start-up, and management of several new manufacturing ventures, and has owned and operated a management consulting firm. He is author of several articles on solid fuel combustion efficiency, energy efficiency, and transportation safety. He has won teaching excellence awards at Queen’s, the University of Prince Edward Island, the Royal Military College of Canada, and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore).
