Contract and Applied Research
The Centre for Business Venturing will form partnerships with both the private and public sectors to conduct practical, leading-edge research on the issues facing new and growing ventures. Queen’s School of Business faculty and graduate students will undertake and lead these important projects, with the goal to create and disseminate new knowledge.
The Centre has already taken on several of these projects. We have partnered with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade to do research on Creating Effective Advisory Boards. We have also partnered with RBC Financial Group to conduct research and deliver a report on Management Challenges to Growth for Small Business. A study on Challenges in Private Equity Funding in Canada is also underway. This study is being conducted in partnership with Industry Canada. The Centre is also working with Hewitt Associates, studying Canada’s Best SME Employers (small and medium sized enterprises) to determine best practices across a number of activities.
