Queen’s Student Services
The administration, faculty, and staff of Queen's School of Business make a special effort to ensure that students are aware of all of the University's many services, facilities, and resources and to provide assistance when required. In addition to the Queen's University services listed below, Queen's School of Business offers a selection of support services that are exclusive to Commerce students.
Services Exclusive to Queen’s Commerce Students
Personal Counseling Service- Queen’s School of Business offers a Personal Counseling Service to assist Commerce students with any personal problems that may arise during the program.
- Students in the Queen’s Commerce program are well prepared for career success. The Business Career Centre, located within the School of Business, provides exclusive services for Commerce students, including: one-on-one career coaching; assistance with resume preparation; and seminars and workshops to help prepare you for your job search. Additionally, the Business Career Centre manages the on-campus recruiting process. Over the past three years, approximately 300 companies and organizations have come to our campus to recruit Commerce graduates. Find out more...
- Goodes Hall, home of Queen’s School of Business is a wireless internet environment. The technology support help desk provides free tech support from 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday.
- The student-run Net Imp@ct Support Centre, located in Goodes Hall, provides technical and multi-media resources for Commerce students. Services include: an on-repair loaner program to ensure that students always have a working computer; high quality colour laser printing, video editing suites and powerful desktop workstations loaded with course-specific software applications; and digital photo and video camera rentals to help enhance presentations and assignments. Net Imp@ct is open seven days a week during the academic year. It is also one of the largest part-time employers of Commerce students on campus.
- Students are encouraged to visit the Commerce administration office, also located within the School of Business, with any questions or issues. Our staff will be more than happy to provide assistance. Academic Counselors are available to discuss degree requirements, university services, and other academic matters. The can also refer students to resources as needed.
Services Available to all Queen’s University Students
Academic Resources- The Queen's writing centre offers workshops and tutorials to help students improve their writing skills.
- With 12 undergraduate residences on main campus, and a mix of co-ed and single gender arrangements, Queen’s offers a variety of appealing environments to accommodate students. Our residences range from small buildings housing 68 students to larger halls with nearly 800 students. Our Living and Learning Communities and Lifestyle Floors offer the same residence experience as other students receive, but the floors focus on a variety of themes: educational development (including a floor exclusively for Commerce students), multicultural living with students from other countries, wellness and balanced lifestyle promotion.
The Queen’s Apartment and Housing Service manages University-owned rentals. This includes two apartment complexes located at west campus, (September leases), and a number of properties (houses/apartments) located in the vicinity of main campus (May leases).
And finally, the Queen’s Accommodation Listing Service Maintains a directory of student rental accommodation not affiliated with the University. Click here for more information on renting in the Kingston community.
- In addition to the exclusive Student Career Services provided by Queen’s School of Business, Commerce students may also take advantage of the services of Queen’s University Student Career Services.
- Queen's offers a number of Awards, bursaries, scholarships, and student loans, as well as government assistance, based on academic merit or financial need.
